Despite the endless rows of steel and concrete structures that make up our world’s largest cities, people still have a perpetual urge to include elements of nature into their daily lives. Through this interaction between man and nature, there is a constant battle between the control humans have over flora and nature competing against the structures designed to control its growth. Through the use of altered perspective, I created this series to show the relation of how humans treasure plants until they are no longer of use to them. In between the diptychs showing the manipulation of human touch lies images of flowers that slowly begin to overgrow the man-made structures that contain them. These small blooms are a beacon of hope against the harsh hand of man, and perhaps one day they will conquer the places that were once their own.
